For the Glaze

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice until smooth.
  3. Unfold puff pastry on a floured surface, cut into 8 squares, and create a border by folding edges.
  4. Fill each square with cream cheese filling.
  5. Whisk one egg with water and brush mixture over pastry edges.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Let cool completely on a wire rack before glazing.
  8. If using homemade dough, mix flour, yeast, and salt; add warm milk and knead until smooth.
  9. Chill dough for 30 minutes and laminate with cold butter before shaping and filling.
  10. Proof shaped pastries for 30 minutes, then bake at 390°F (199°C) for 15-20 minutes.
