  • 1 pound Ground Beef Can substitute with ground turkey or chicken
  • 4 medium Potatoes Thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil Can use vegetable oil or butter
  • 1 medium Onion Yellow or white preferred
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced; garlic powder can be substituted
  • 1 cup Beef Broth Can substitute with chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup Milk Optional; use plant-based milk for dairy-free version
  • 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika For more spiciness, use cayenne
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese Can mix with mozzarella or Parmesan
  • ¼ cup Parmesan Cheese Can substitute with nutritional yeast
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley For garnish

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Thinly slice about four medium potatoes into ¼-inch rounds and set aside in cold water.
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté diced onions and minced garlic for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add 1 pound of ground beef along with Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper; cook until browned for about 6-8 minutes.
  5. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and layer half of the sliced potatoes, then half of the ground beef mixture, followed by half of the cheddar cheese. Repeat these layers.
  6. Pour beef broth and optional milk over the entire casserole.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 35-40 minutes until the potatoes are tender.
  8. Remove foil and sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese on top. Bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes.
  9. Let the casserole rest for about 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
