  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced) fresh garlic for the best taste
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger (freshly grated) fresh is preferable over powdered
  • Crushed Red Pepper Flakes optional, adjust according to spice preference
  • 3 pieces Green Onions use both white and green parts
Serving
  • 4 cups Cooked Rice (white or brown) quinoa or cauliflower rice can be alternatives
  • Sesame Seeds optional but recommended for garnish

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. In a large skillet, heat over medium-high heat, then add 1 pound of ground beef. Cook for 5-7 minutes, using a wooden spoon to break it apart as it browns.
  2. Add 3 minced garlic cloves and 1 tablespoon of grated ginger to the skillet. Sauté for 1 minute, stirring frequently, until fragrant.
  3. Pour in ¼ cup of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Once the sauce has thickened, remove the skillet from heat and fold in the white parts of 3 sliced green onions.
  5. Spoon the beef mixture over a bed of cooked rice, spreading the mixture generously to cover it.
  6. Top your Korean-Style Beef Bowl with the green onion tops and a sprinkle of sesame seeds for added texture.
  7. Serve with a side of crunchy cucumber kimchi or steamed bok choy if desired.
