Method
 

Cake Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
  5. Add hot coffee and stir until the batter is smooth.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  7. To check for doneness, insert a toothpick into the center.
Ganache Preparation
  1. In a saucepan, combine heavy cream and butter over medium heat until just about to boil.
  2. Remove from heat, add chopped semisweet chocolate, and whisk until smooth.
Frosting the Cake
  1. Once the cake is cooled, spread ganache over the top. Allow it to set before serving.
