Cake Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
- Add hot coffee and stir until the batter is smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
- To check for doneness, insert a toothpick into the center.
Ganache Preparation
- In a saucepan, combine heavy cream and butter over medium heat until just about to boil.
- Remove from heat, add chopped semisweet chocolate, and whisk until smooth.
Frosting the Cake
- Once the cake is cooled, spread ganache over the top. Allow it to set before serving.
