  • 1 medium Onion yellow or white onions work best
  • 2 cloves Garlic fresh minced garlic is ideal
  • 4 medium Potatoes Yukon gold or russet for creamy texture
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese swap for dairy-free cheese as needed
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese optional but recommended for richness
  • 2 teaspoons Italian Seasoning dried oregano and basil can be substituted
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika smoked paprika adds extra flavor
  • to taste Salt

  • 2 cups Beef Broth or water, can use vegetable broth
  • 1/4 cup Milk optional, can replace with nut milk
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley for garnish, can substitute with thyme or other herbs

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with olive oil.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Stir in chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until onion is translucent.
  4. Layer sliced potatoes evenly over the beef mixture in the baking dish. Season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese and grated Parmesan cheese over potatoes. Pour beef broth around edges and drizzle with milk if desired.
  6. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and potatoes are tender.
  7. Let the casserole cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy!
