Preparation Steps
- Begin by softening unsalted butter and placing it in a mixing bowl. Cream the butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Crack in the egg and add vanilla extract to the creamed mixture. Blend well until smooth and glossy.
- In a separate bowl, sift together all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips and Christmas colored M&Ms. Cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator.
- While the dough chills, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet.
- Scoop out portions of dough, roll into balls, and place them on the baking sheet. Press M&Ms on top and bake for 8-10 minutes.
- Allow the cookies to set on the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
